Thiago Silva’s wife insists the defender is STAYING at Chelsea as she says their family are ‘very happy here’… after the Brazilian had appeared to post a farewell message by claiming he ‘will be a blue for the rest of my life’
- Thiago Silva signed a new one-year contract with Chelsea earlier this year
- Questions arose about his future after he seemed to post a farewell message
- However, his wife insisted the defender would be staying at the club next season
Thiago Silva’s wife has quashed reports that the Brazilian could leave Chelsea this summer.
The centre back, 38, has been a key player despite his age since joining the club on a free transfer back in 2020, racking up 115 appearances.
Silva was a key player when the Blues won the Champions League in the 2020-21 season and has regularly captained the side when Cesar Azpilicueta has been absent.
He has also been one of the few first team stars to gain any credit from Chelsea’s miserable campaign that sees them languishing in 11th after Saturday’s disappointing 2-2 draw with Nottingham Forest.
After the game, Silva took to Instagram to post a cryptic message to supporters, raising questions over his future, despite signing a new one-year deal back in February.

Silva had shared a cryptic post on Instagram that looked like a farewell message to supporters
Sharing several emotional photos of himself acknowledging supporters at full-time, the Brazilian had said: ‘I would like to say thank you for so much affection and respect for me and my family!! I know the season is not over yet, but we didn’t make a season that @ChelseaFC deserves, and I’m truly sorry about that!
‘But even so, I’m honoured in this way by the supporters. It’s very rewarding and you can be sure that I will be blue for the rest of my life!! I love you with all my strength. Thank you.’
However, his wife, Belle Silva – who has not been afraid to voice her frustration and opinions on Chelsea’s dismal campaign – shared a video on social media insisting that Silva would see out the final year of his contract at the club.
She added: ‘I wanted to thank everyone. Every person who came to me for a hug, for a song outside the stadium. Thanks so much.
‘We, my family, my husband, children and me are very happy here in London, in Chelsea.
‘So my family and I are blue and we are Chelsea and we are staying. Go Blues.’
The Brazilian has played 33 times in all competitions for the club this season and despite their disappointing results, the Blues’ defensive record is the fourth best in the league.
They end the season with away trips to Manchester United and Manchester City, before hosting Newcastle on the final day.
However, his wife – Belle Silva – reassured supporters that he is staying and insisted her family are ‘very happy in London and in Chelsea’
