Sixers’ Joel Embiid named NBA Eastern Conference Players of the Week

The Philadelphia 76ers’ All-Star center added another accomplishment to his MVP-hopeful resume. Joel Embiid was named NBA Eastern Conference Players of the Week for Week 21 of the 2022-23 season.

During the highlighted period of March 6th to 12th, Embiid averaged 38.5 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 2.8 blocks per game. The Sixers went 4-0 during the week, racking up wins over the Indiana Pacers, Minnesota Timberwolves, Portland Trail Blazers, and the Washington Wizards. The highest-scoring output occurred against the Pacers, with Embiid dropping 42 points, willing his team to the 147-143 victory.

Embiid is being selected for the third time this season, with the prior, see tons occurring on Dec. 12 and Nov. 14. Sacramento Kings forward-center Domantas Sabonis was named the NBA Western Conference Player of the Week.

Embiid and the Sixers are on a hot streak and have won seven of their last ten games. They are now only three games behind the Milwaukee Bucks for the league’s best record.
