Nottingham Forest confirm signing of Loic Bade from Rennes to cap sensational summer window

Nottingham Forest confirm the signing of Loic Bade from Rennes as Premier League new boys secure their TWENTY FIRST signing of the summer window – but proposed deals for Serge Aurier and Michy Batshuayi fail to materialise before the deadline

  • Nottingham Forest concluded three signings on transfer deadline day
  • Willy Boly and Josh Bowler joined from Wolves and Blackpool respectively
  • WHILE defender Loic Bade, 22, also joined from Ligue 1 side Rennes late on
  • However, moves for Michy Batshuayi and Serge Aurier fell through at the death

Nottingham Forest continued their summer spending spree with the eleventh hour arrival of Loic Bade.

Bade becomes Forest’s 21st signing as the defender sealed his deadline day move from Ligue 1 team Rennes to join the newly-promoted side.

Southampton were also battling to land the 22-year-old but were brushed away by Forests’ pursuit of the Frenchman who chose to make a late switch to Steve Cooper’s Premier League side.

Bade suffered an awkward season at Rennes after joining for £17million last summer on a five-year contract but leaving just one year into his deal after making just 14 league appearances.

His season was cut short after suffering an adductor injury but impressed enough during his handful of appearances to secure a move to England’s top-flight.

Bade’s arrival looked set to be backed up by Forest’s capture of free agent Serge Aurier after the right-back agreed personal terms with the club.

The former Tottenham full-back was awaiting a work permit late on deadline day but was expected to join up with his new teammates in the coming days.

However, in the end Forest failed to get a deal for the Ivorian over line, indicating their sensational summer business was done by posting a GIF of Barack Obama dropping a microphone with the caption: ‘Over and out’.

However the reckless addition is perhaps more well-known for his off-pitch troubles than his on-field success, with Aurier finding himself in hot water with authorities on numerous occasions in both England and France.

Another player that Forest missed out on at the death was Michy Batshuayi, who ran out of time to complete his switch to the City Ground.

The Chelsea outcast was set to sign a deal at the City Ground with the side hopeful of concluding the move on Thursday night after positive discussions with the Belgian’s representatives.

But the 22-year-old’s proposed move collapsed after the two Premier League outfits ran out of time to finalise the transfer.
