Forget Donald Trump… Granddaughter Kai, 16, Is The Real Golfer In The Family!
The honors boards at Trump International in West Palm Beach, Florida, have long been worth a second glance. The course is a 15-minute drive from Mar-a-Lago and there is a plaque on one wall, listing all the men to have triumphed in the club championships.
As of 2019, the name Donald Trump appeared three times: 1999, 2001, 2009. The only snag? As Rick Reilly points out in Commander in Cheat, the course wasn’t even open in 1999.
Across his vast golf empire the former President claims to have won at least 18 club championships.
The final score, according to Reilly? ‘Lies 16, Incompletes 2, Confirms 0. By this time, Trump’s nose has grown so long he could putt with it.’
Last year, however, the name Trump was again etched on to those plaques in Florida.
Kai Trump is an impressive young golfer tipped for big things, and she has only just turned 16
Her grandfather, the former US president Donald Trump, is well-known for his love of the sport

The winner’s photo included Donald, wearing a MAGA hat and a wide smile.
Next to him and holding the trophy, though, was granddaughter Kai Trump.
‘Over the weekend I won the Women’s Club Championship @trumpgolfpalmbeach!’ the teenager posted on Instagram.
For the cynics, her boast came with some more convincing proof. Alongside the family photo were highlights from Kai’s triumph: a drive fired high into the Florida sky, a putt sent snaking into the hole, a chip from beside the lake and another trophy picture from inside the palatial clubhouse.
Across her social media, there is ample evidence to suggest the family name might pop up on plenty more plaques yet.
Indeed, Kai is still only 16 but already she has already been tipped to become the most accomplished golfer of the Trump dynasty.
The teenager – daughter of Donald Jr and his ex-wife Vanessa – stands at 5ft 8ins and claims to be part of Callaway Next, ‘the next generation of Callaway Tour Pros.’
Her longest drive is said to be 275 yards. Only 14 players on the LPGA average longer in 2023.

She has played with big-hitting Bryson DeChambeau, Swedish professional Daniela Holmqvist, two-time world long drive champion Kyle Berkshire and other promising youngsters.
She has met Tiger Woods and his fellow major winners Dustin Johnson and Patrick Reed. She has, of course, shared the course with her ‘grandpa’.
They formed part a Pro-Am team ahead of the controversial LIV Golf tournament at Trump’s Doral course in Florida.
Kai played alongside Eric Trump, Sergio Garcia, recent US PGA Champion Brooks Koepka and supporting cast of secret service agents.
Between them they shot 9-under, the joint-lowest score of the day.
The teenager claimed to end the round with five birdies; on the final hole, she watched her grandpa top his approach shot before sticking hers within 10ft of the flag.
Trump’s empire of courses has allowed Kai to hone her skills and trick shots across America.

Some members in Palm Beach have suggested she is talented and devoted enough to earn a college scholarship.
Here’s hoping Kai hasn’t inherited her grandfather’s economical relationship with etiquette.
It’s said the caddies at Winged Foot in New York nicknamed Trump ‘Pele’ – such was his habit of kicking balls back into play.
At his Bedminster course, which hosted another LIV tournament against a backdrop of protests, Trump was accused of hitting his ball into a pond, only for his caddie to usher him towards one sitting in the center of the fairway. Another member of his playing group is said to have shouted: ‘What did you do with your mask and flippers?’
Trump’s name appears on the honors board at Bedminster, too. The story goes that he never entered one of the competitions he ‘won’. Instead, he found out the winning score and declared: ‘Oh, me and so-and-so played better than that today. So we actually won.’
