Chelsea: Frank Lampard confirms Benoit Badiashile will be out for MONTHS
Chelsea suffer huge injury blow as Frank Lampard confirms £33m defender Benoit Badiashile will be out for MONTHS rather than weeks with a hamstring problem
- The 22-year-old defender suffered the hamstring injury in training last week
- He has had the problem assessed by specialists and faces a lengthy spell out
Frank Lampard has confirmed Benoit Badiashile will be missing for months rather than weeks with the hamstring injury he suffered in training last week.
Chelsea confirmed Badiashile, a £33m January signing from Monaco, is facing an extended period on out after having his injury assessed by specialists this week.
The injury was worse than first feared though, amid concerns that he could miss the start of pre-season and the Mauricio Pochettino era, an exact timeline has not yet been put on how long the centre back will be missing.
Lampard said: ‘It’s a big blow for him and I’m really disappointed with him. He’s come here and impressed. The games before he got injured I was very happy with him.
‘The injury is unfortunate and very complicated in his hamstring and we’re talking months rather than weeks unfortunately.

‘Hopefully the time over the summer means he’s not missing games and he comes back stronger.’
