Brooks Koepka Prepares For Return To LIV Golf After His PGA Championship Win

PGA Championship winner Brooks Koepka is gearing up to hit the ‘phenomenal’ Trump National Golf Club in Washington DC after his major win at the weekend.

Koepka has been well and truly celebrating his third PGA Championship victory after being spotted at the Florida Panthers game Monday.

But it is back to business for Brooks Koepka this weekend as he returns to the LIV Golf circuit for its event in Washington DC.

Off the back of his PGA Championship win, which made him the first LIV Golf rebel to win a major since the breakaway began last summer, he will be teaming up with his Smash GC once again.

And the 33-year-old believes the tournament at Donald Trump’s DC course will be as much of a challenge as Oak Hill.

The American claimed this week’s event will be fun as he hailed the former President’s courses.

‘It’ll be fun,’ Kopeka said. ‘It’s going to be a good golf course in good shape. All of Trump’s golf courses are phenomenal and fun to play, and I think they’re also quite tough, too. I play tough golf courses quite well.

‘It’ll be a fun place to play, good atmosphere, big city, so hopefully we’ve got a bunch of fans and a bunch of support out there. I’m looking forward to it.’

Koepka also revealed that the 45th President of the United States had told him the ‘big-boy course’ would suit the five-time major winner’s style of play.

new balance

‘When I played with Trump a couple months ago, maybe two months ago, three months ago, whatever it was, we were talking about it, and he told me I’d love it,’ he said following LIV’s event in Tulsa.

‘Like you said, big-boy golf course. It’s going to be long. I don’t think we’ve really played too many long golf courses yet. I think they’ve been a lot of thinker golf courses and position golf courses where this might be more of a bomber’s paradise. It’ll be exciting.’

Koepka endured some chirping from spectators at the weekend but brushed it off as ‘repetitive.’

But he’s hoping to hear some this week as he claims the ‘big cities’ LIV chooses to play at deliver passionate fans.

‘Anytime you go up to the northeast, they’re very passionate fans, very loud, and I personally love it,’ he said. ‘I love the chirping. I love the excitement behind everything when things are going well, and then when things are going poor, too, they’re not afraid to let you know.

‘You get up there in big cities like that, there’s usually some good fan bases, and we love it. As players we’re excited, so hopefully they can show out.’

The rebel circuit is heading to Trump National Golf Club in Potomac Falls, Virginia for LIV’s DC tournament for the seventh event of its second season.
